The Ramirez family is known throughout Spain for their aptitude with the dueling sword, and their preservation of the La Destreza style of fencing. At least, among their many sons they are.

A tomboy in her childhood, Alma, only daughter of the family, wanted nothing more than to learn fencing alongside her brothers. To the family, though, she was a delicate flower in need of protection, and fencing was hardly a ladylike pursuit: lessons were officially prohibited. Partially thanks to a sympathetic instructor, however, she was able to occasionally piggyback her way into the lessons of her youngest brother, the only one she could bully into compliance. Under threat of physical abuse, her brother, Vargas, became her sparring partner.

Much to her family's relief, the tomboyish streak disappeared with the advent of Alma's young adult years, but the adventurous streak was strong, if not stronger than ever. Still very headstrong, she maintained her secret practice alongside her brother.

When Vargas came of age and announced his intention to join Schattenjager, Alma immediately latched on to the cause. Under pretense of finding a husband in Germany, she tagged along with the blessings of her family. However, when the two arrived, Vargas was accepted into the organization but Alma was not, as no women are officially permitted.

Disappointed but not discouraged, masquerading as a man came into consideration. This, however seemed insulting to her femininity (she made a terribly effeminate man anyway)- there had to be another way. Along came Elaine O'Malley. The two met by chance shortly after Alma's rejection from Schattenjager; upon learning that Elaine had suffered a similar fate, the two were fast friends.

Nobody knows exactly where it came from or who can be directly credited with its inception, but somewhere along the line an idea took seed. If Schattenjager took only men and women disguised as men, why not create an opposing organization for women?
And so, Damejager was born.

Bored socialite by day, Alma co-leads Damejager by night. Due to her contact (Vargas) with Schattenjager, she is the "go-to gal" for jobs, and often the one who knows first what's going on in the city. Although administration seems to take up a lot of her time, she is always eager to take on a job when needed.

Alma is a character created for . I kind of worked backwards on coming up with her; the only concept I had was that I wanted to somehow combine "victorian aristrocrat" with something a little slutty. Hopefully she doesn't look too whore-ish; I didn't want to go TOO far with it.
